CHINA...

There are three sectors in Chineese film: Cinema of HongKong, cinema of China and cinema of Taiwan.

Many Chinese films have achieved box-office success abroad. Films like House of Flying Daggers, and Farewell my Concubine have received world-wide recognition. 2004 saw the light of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, another phemoninal hit across the world, that almost matched movies of Hollywood.

JAPANESE..

There are actually many genres in Japanese film..

Anime:: Japanese animation that is now even hugely popular in english.Anime itself has a huge culture in Japan and dates back to about 1917.The influence of Japanese Calligraphy and Japanese painting also influence the anime style of creation. The mega sucess of the Nintendo series Pokemon was helped by anime.Anime dramatically interested more Westerners to the culture of Japan...

Americans have used this animations for satirical shows, such as South Park and Family Guy...which are hugely popular nowadays in the western world.

J-Horror:: Japanese horror movies are given this name, due to the fact that they tend to be more psychological and tension building than normal terror. Its origins come from the Ejo period and the maijin period, which are known as kwaidan.

Japanese Horror movies such as the Ring and the Grudge have been made into Hollywood movies also, which became extremely popular.

cinema of India

The Indian film industry is the largest in the world in terms of ticket sales and number of films produced annually. As there are many languages in India, there are lots of branches to Indian film industry.

The most well-known and largest branch would have to be the Hindi speaking-Bollywood industry. The name Bollywood originated from the city Bombay and is also derived from 'Hollywood'. {B+ Hollywood=Bollywood}.
Bombay {now called Mumbai}, as one can guess is the base of Bollywood movies.

Bollywood films are nowadays influenced largely by the western cultures...the movies are now more or less a blend of indian and western cultures.. An entire movie shot in a foreign country has become the norm in these bollywood films. Many of the times, the moviemakers even shoot song scenes in a variety of foreign countries...so that they can make the movie all the more glamourous and entertaining for the audience.

They show the real Indian culture in that they are mostly always a combination of song, dance and acting....much like a musical!
They are viewed by a large number of South-asians living abroad in other western countries, i.e. USA, Canada, UK...
Theres no doubt that Bollywood has increasing international recognition nowadays... its actors such as the bollywood diva Aishwarya Rai are well-known Indian ambassidors in Hollywood.

US Cinema/ Hollywood

The most popular film industry in today's world would have to be Hollywood. The United states have always been forward on the cinema world, ever since its origins..

We all love Hollywood films, whether it be the Disney-pixar animations, a Spilsberg blockbuster like Jaws {which was in 1965 considered the first summer blockbuster} or the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy featuring Johnny Depp!! It is without question that hollywood makes a huge impact on the world with its actors and directors having fame worldwide.
Hollywood cinema's do realease globally. Infact some movies are even released in other countries earlier than in the US, for example Japan or Australia where there is a HUUGE audience for hollywood movies.

The fact that English is the core language of these Hollywood movies makes it all the more accesible for the world. People around the world watch Hollywood movies in addition to the movies made by their own countries!

Origins of modern day films...

In 1906, the first ever feature film was created. It was an Australian film, The Story of the Kelly Gang, based on the infamous Ned Kelly. In was 1911 when other countries started making films, but by this time Australia had produced more 16 full-length feature films.

In the early 1900s, America took a big swing into the film industry. Motion picture production companies from New York and New Jersey started moving to California because of the good weather and longer days. This evolved ofcourse overtime to Hollywood...

The Indian, Chinese, Japanese and EU film Industries have also evolved over the years and now are also a stronghold in todays cinema-goers world.
